Taormina è una città collinare sulla costa orientale della Sicilia. È situata nei pressi del Monte Etna, un vulcano attivo con sentieri che arrivano alla sommità. La città è nota per il Teatro Antico di Taormina, un antico teatro greco-romano ancora oggi in funzione. Vicino al teatro, i dirupi che scendono fino al mare formano insenature con spiagge sabbiose. Una stretta striscia di sabbia collega alla minuscola Isola Bella, che è una riserva naturale.
