Pantelleria – Cala Tramontana

Detail

Discover the millennial fascination of Cala Tramontana and Cala Levante, ancient sea shelters that have marked the history of Sicily since antiquity. Since 2004, archaeological surveys have brought to light important discoveries, revealing the presence of at least three wrecks from different eras.

In the heart of Cala Tramontana, a recent discovery has uncovered a real treasure: around 4,000 Punic coins and a significant amount of red flint, suggesting the presence of a fourth, even older wreck, dating back to prehistoric times.

The adventure begins both from the land, from the pier of Cala Tramontana, and from the sea, mooring at the special buoy. Along the way, immerse yourself in a fascinating underwater world: fragments of Punic amphorae, lithic anchors, finds from different eras, and more await you.

Discover the history buried beneath the waves and be fascinated by the evidence of a remote past that comes to life in the sea depths of Cala Tramontana.
