Presepe Vivente of Torretta

In the characteristic village of Torretta, the magic of Christmas will once again come to life this year with the performance of the Presepe Vivente and the re-enactment of ancient crafts.
The event will be held on three dates: on 8 December 2024, on the occasion of the 40th edition of the Sagra della Vastedda, and on the afternoons of 26 December 2024 and 6 January 2025, from 4pm to 8pm.

Organised by the ‘N’Capu u Cummuni’ Cultural Association, the nativity scene is set in late 19th-century Sicily, within the picturesque old village that winds along Via Montello, characterised by a picturesque staircase surrounded by historic houses. This unique setting will offer visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in a journey back in time, amidst detailed reconstructions of scenes of daily life and the representation of ancient Sicilian trades.

The nativity scene will culminate in the Nativity hut, involving visitors in an authentic and evocative experience. Actors in costume will bring to life moments of everyday life from the past, reviving tradition and local culture in a unique and engaging atmosphere.

During the event, it will be possible to participate in tastings of typical local products such as Faccia di Vecchia, fried bread, Vastedda, olive oil, caciocavallo cheese and Christmas sweets typical of Torretta, offering a food and wine experience that celebrates the roots of the territory.
