Christmas Mine: First SottoSale winter exhibition

From 6 to 21 December 2024, the Museo di Arte Contemporanea SottoSale (MACSS), inside the Italkali Mine of Raffo, in Petralia Soprana, will host the first winter review ‘Christmas Mine – Natale in Miniera’, an event that combines contemporary art, music and culture in a unique and evocative place.

For three consecutive weekends, every Friday and Saturday, the museum will offer extraordinary openings, transforming the mine into an exclusive stage for cultural and artistic initiatives.

During the event, visitors will be able to participate in a rich programme of events, including exhibitions, artistic performances, thematic readings and meetings, all enhanced by an extraordinary Christmas Concert, which will be held in the natural salt cathedral. This combination of creativity and the fascinating landscape of the mine will offer a unique experience, combining the excitement of the Christmas holidays with the pleasure of cultural discovery.

The MACSS, set in the heart of the mine, represents a rare and precious reality on the artistic scene, combining the natural heritage of a space sculpted by human labour with the innovative power of contemporary art. 

Christmas Mine thus becomes an opportunity to get to know this place, explore new forms of artistic expression and experience a different Christmas, immersed in the beauty and surreal atmosphere of the mine.
