Caravaggio: the truth of light

From 1 June to 6 October 2024, Michelangelo Merisi, known as Caravaggio, will be the exceptional protagonist in Catania with thirty-six works, four of which are autographs, which will be housed in the new Municipal Art Gallery in the former Monastery of Santa Chiara.
“Caravaggio: the truth of light” wants to bring a contribution of knowledge to a fundamental period of European art, from the end of the 16th century to the first half of the 17th century, intertwining with what is commonly defined as the Baroque age. The exhibition will allow a journey into the artistic world, full of light and shadow, of Caravaggio, who in his short but tormented life also spent an intense period in Sicily.
