Blu Sicilia – The sea in island art from the 20th century to the present day
Detail
From 21 April to 3 November 2024, the Società Operaia di Mutuo Soccorso of Modica will host the exhibition “Blu Sicilia – The sea in the island’s art from the 20th century to Contemporary Art”.
The exhibition aims to tell the spectator, through a selection of works by important artists not only from Sicily, about the island’s sea and the interweaving of themes that involve it. A selection of paintings, sculptures, photographs and installations will show how the Sicilian sea, universally recognised as an element of beauty that identifies the island, has inspired so many artists since the early decades of the 20th century and continues to do so today, also touching on issues of strong social and environmental impact.
The exhibition is organised by the Sikarte Cultural Association.
