Belliniana

from 14 to 28 September

It is called Belliniana – Homage to the Swan of Catania, the fourth edition of the review directly promoted and organised by the Sicilian Region’s Department of Tourism, Sport and Entertainment, which will take place mainly in the Etnean capital and in Messina from 14 to 28 September, with a dense series of appointments (with free admission by reservation) dedicated to Vincenzo Bellini: It will begin on Saturday 14 September with a great concert at the Villa Bellini in Catania with soprano Desirée Rancatore, tenor Vittorio Grigolo, and the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana conducted by Gianluca Marcianò, and will continue with a further 16 appointments including symphonic and chamber concerts, conversations, sacred music, theatre, dance, new creations, and great repertoire; at the centre, an opera in concert form at the Teatro Bellini in Catania conducted by Fabrizio Maria Carminati.

Strongly desired by the regional government and entrusted to the conductor Gianna Fratta, Belliniana – Homage to the Swan of Catania (previously named ‘Bellini International Context’) is realised thanks to the collaboration of the Cities of Catania, Messina and Palermo and the most important cultural institutions of the Island: Teatro Massimo Bellini of Catania, Teatro Massimo of Palermo, Teatro di Messina, Fondazione Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, Fondazione Taormina Arte Sicilia, University of Catania, Conservatorio di Musica ‘Vincenzo Bellini’ of Catania, Conservatorio di Musica ‘Arcangelo Corelli’ of Messina, Catania Summer Fest and Archdiocese of Catania.

From 4 September (9 a.m.) on www.belliniana.it it will be possible to obtain free tickets that guarantee seats for the performances at Villa Bellini, Teatro Sangiorgi, Teatro Bellini (CT) and Teatro Vittorio Emanuele (ME). On performance evenings, it will then be possible to go directly to the various venues to access any unreserved seats, subject to availability. The activities scheduled at the Palazzo della Cultura (ex Platamone), at the Basilica Cattedrale di Sant’Agata V.M. and at the foyer of the Teatro Bellini are free admission without booking, again subject to availability.
