Presepe Vivente of Trappitello

Dettaglio

The Presepe Vivente of Trappitello in Taormina, organised every year by the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish of Trappitello – Taormina, returns from 26 to 30 December 2024 and from 1 to 6 January 2025. The event takes place in the evocative garden of the historic Church of Santa Venera, where an authentic Bethlehem village is recreated with stone and wood structures such as the ancient oil mill, the millstone, and the windmill, all in perfect working order.

Each edition involves more than 200 participants and volunteers who, with passion and talent, make this living nativity scene, among the most famous and appreciated in Sicily, unique. Visitors can immerse themselves in a journey back in time, discovering the beauty of the past through the re-enactment of ancient crafts and the preparation of traditional dishes.

A distinctive element of the Trappitello nativity scene is the large presence of animals, which contributes to creating an authentic and engaging atmosphere, particularly loved by children. This event represents not only a celebration of the Nativity, but also an important opportunity to rediscover local culture and historical traditions.
