Pantelleria – Punta Li Marsi

Detail

Dive into the depths of a place rich in history and mystery, where ancient evidence of the art of navigation lies hidden beneath the waves. The underwater trail at Punta Li Marsi begins at a depth of 16 metres, where the first find welcomes you: a trapezoidal lithic anchor.

Descending further to 23 metres, you will find yourself immersed in a veritable concentration of artefacts, including modern iron anchors, ancient lithic artefacts and much more. Each item tells a unique story of navigation and trade that is lost in the mists of time.

Explore this underwater museum, where rough-hewn stones used as ancient agricultural tools are transformed into ballast and rudimentary anchors, testifying to the creativity and ingenuity of past civilisations.
