Pantelleria – Cala Gadir

Detail

Immerse yourself in the hidden history of Cala Gadir, an enchanting natural haven that witnessed centuries of shipping and trade between the 3rd century BC and the 2nd century AD. Signs of this rich past can be found on the seabed, with numerous relics from different cultures.

The underwater route takes you from land to a depth of 30 metres, heading north-west from the marina bay. You can start the adventure directly from the shore or follow the buoy halfway along the route.

While exploring, you will discover a wooden fragment of an ancient vessel hidden among the rocks, a group of Punic and Roman amphorae, a lead Roman anchor log and other fascinating artefacts that tell the story of maritime travel in antiquity.

Come and discover this underwater treasure, where history merges with the beauty of the sea. Your safety is guaranteed by an active remote control system during the dive.
