Aspra Anchovy Museum – Bagheria

Visiting the Anchovy Museum is like taking a wonderful journey back to the origins of Sicilian culture.

The creator, Michelangelo Balistreri, is a Sicilian entrepreneur who, thanks to his passion for his village, wanted to create a museum dedicated to the place.

During the visit, he puts on a real show that engages tourists, schoolchildren, authorities and VIPs. The location is characteristically traditional and reflects the Sicilian vocation for fishing and the sea; it is full of photos, boats and tools that are presented by Michelangelo through amusing anecdotes and traditional songs.
